Library News - November 2007

This month, instead of recommending books, I'll spotlight some web sites of interest either for their reading and/or their listening material.

Desiring God - John Piper
www.desiringgod.org
John Piper has been pastor of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Minneapolis for 27 years, and this site contains much of his written and spoken work from all those years. Available are online books, sermon manuscripts, short articles on many topics, audio and video files, as well as the Desiring God annual conference sessions. For the truly ambitious listener, there is an eight-year-long collection of sermons on Romans!

Stand to Reason - Greg Koukl
www.str.org
This site's purpose is to equip Christians to be good ambassadors for Christ. There are training courses in evangelism available, as well as written articles and radio broadcasts on apologetic, moral, and doctrinal issues. Free registration will let you access all areas of the site. The most important article on the site is considered to be: "Never Read a Bible Verse", which deals with the importance of context in Bible interpretation.

Biblical Training
www.biblicaltraining.org
This site has lectures on theological topics from many well-known teachers and professors, ranging from beginner to seminary level. Some of the topics are: Old and New Testament Survey, Hermeneutics, Apologetics, Worldview Analysis, World Religions, and Greek and Hebrew. The site also has a missionary emphasis, as the plan is to provide these lectures, and the means to play them, to people in other countries who don't have access to such training.

If you have a favorite site to recommend or other comments, let me know at library@spencerportbiblechurch.org.
