Library News - December 2007

Because of some good book bargains as well as recent donations, we have another set of new books ready for borrowing in the library. Here are some highlights:

New fiction books include:

From Beverly Lewis, the five-part Abram's Daughters series: The Covenant, The Betrayal, The Sacrifice, The Prodigal, The Revelation

From Lynn Austin, three more volumes in the Chronicles of the Kings series: Strength of his Hand, Faith of my Fathers, Among the Gods. This series recreates the world of several kings of Judah, including Hezekiah and Mannaseh.

From Tracie Peterson, the Yukon Quest series in one volume.

New non-fiction books include:

The Baker Guide to New Religions - short articles on nearly fifty religious movements, with recent developments noted.

Charts of Christian Theology and Doctrine - reproducible summaries of key theological doctrines in chart form for comparison and contrast.

The Mystery of Marriage by Mike Mason - deep meditations on the meaning of marriage; subjects include love, otherness, vows, intimacy, submission, death, etc.

A Man Called Norman by Mike Adkins - a classic story of what it means to love our neighbor.

A Christian's Response to Islam by James L. Garlow - the basic history and beliefs of Islam and how Christians should and should not respond to Muslims.

Thought for the day:
"A book is the only place in which you can examine a fragile thought without breaking it, or explore an explosive idea without fear it will go off in your face...It is one of the few havens remaining where a man's mind can get both provocation and privacy."
- Edward P. Morgan (American journalist)
